Kia Connect Store - Frequently Asked Questions

   

General information

• Kia Connect Store is an online store, accessible from the Kia Connect app, where upgrades and other paid services can be purchased for Kia vehicles.

• Any Kia Connect app user with a linked vehicle can access the Kia Connect Store.

• The Kia Connect Store is a Kia Connect service, and is therefore bundled with the 7-year free Kia Connect services. The services will be available free of charge for a period of seven years commencing on the day the vehicle is sold to the first owner of the vehicle, i.e. the point in time the initial purchase agreement becomes effective, and may be subject to change during that period.

• Kia Pay is a new digital wallet service that seamlessly enables payments for upgrades and services. Kia Pay provides Kia owners and drivers with the capability to make purchases in the Kia Connect Store, and will support payments in new Kia systems to come.

• When you proceed to payment from the Kia Connect Store, the checkout process will be handled by Kia Pay. After you complete the payment, you become a Kia Pay user.

·         Kia Pay is a free service, however in order to use Kia Pay, you must be a Kia Connect customer. The Kia Connect services will be available free of charge for a period of seven years commencing on the day the vehicle is sold to the first owner of the vehicle, i.e. the point in time the initial purchase agreement becomes effective, and may be subject to change during that period.

Upgrades and Services

• The upgrades provided by the Kia Connect Store are developed after the vehicle purchase to enhance customer experience and keep the vehicle always up-to-date. Upgrades add new software functions to the Kia vehicles through over-the-air updates using the existing hardware, but adding new functionalities. Therefore, the price of the upgrade is not included in the price of the vehicle.

• Upgrades add new functions to the Kia vehicles through software-based updates to the vehicle hardware that is already available in the vehicle. The Remote Smart Parking Assistance 2 (RSPA 2) upgrade provides new functionalities that utilize the existing hardware for the front/rear parking distance warning function of the vehicle, and the surround view monitor, side parking distance warning, and rear parking collision avoidance assist function provided with the "Technology" package option.

• Unfortunately, this is not possible, as upgrades are bought for a specific vehicle. You need to purchase the upgrades again for other vehicles based on their eligibility.

• Purchased upgrades are only available on vehicles specified at the time of purchase, and therefore cannot be transferred to other vehicles. If a family member is linked to the same vehicle in the Kia Connect app, the user can benefit from the upgrade you purchased for the shared vehicle.

• To cancel the Kia Connect services, previously activated upgrades for a limited period of time must be uninstalled first, as they require connectivity for proper functioning. You can request the deinstallation of upgrades through the Kia Connect support. Otherwise, the upgrades with a limited usage period will be uninstalled automatically when deactivating Kia Connect services from your vehicle.

• If you purchased an upgrade with a lifetime usage period, the second vehicle owner will be able to benefit from the upgrade.

• In case of upgrades with a limited usage period, these must be uninstalled before deactivating the Kia Connect services in the car.

• There will be no changes for the upgrades you purchased for a lifetime usage period. The upgrades with a limited usage period will be reprovisioned to your car after reactivating the Kia Connect services, if the usage period you purchased the upgrade for has not expired.

• You can contact Kia Connect support for assistance with reactivation of upgrades with a limited usage period.

• Activating the Music Streaming function does not require a paid account for any supported streaming service (e.g. Amazon Music). However, to benefit from the service and actually stream music in your vehicle after the activation, a paid account with the supported providers is necessary.

Purchasing process

• When the purchase of the upgrade is complete, the installation certificate in the vehicle will be downloaded, and an installation pop-up window will be displayed when the vehicle is started again.

• After the installation is completed, you can start using the upgrade. Depending on the network signal, it may take some time to install the upgrade. The installation is usually completed in about 1 minute, but it may take 2 to 5 minutes.

• After accessing the Kia Connect Store via the app, the system checks the eligibility of your vehicle for upgrades and services, and only displays the ones you can purchase or activate.

• If for some reason the shown upgrade or service cannot be purchased, the store will inform you by a pop-up message after you enter the detailed upgrade/service page.

• Your vehicle needs to be linked to the Kia Connect app account and has to be eligible for installation of upgrades.

• Your vehicle has to have the minimum required software version. If this condition is not fulfilled, you will receive an error message when trying to purchase the selected upgrade.

• Please note that the Boost upgrade may be purchased and used only for vehicles sold and registered in Germany and whose owners reside in Germany. In all other cases, the vehicle requires recertification after the "Boost" product is purchased. If these prerequisites are met, you can also drive your vehicle in other EU/non-EU countries.

• If you do not activate the Kia Connect services in your car and you do not have a Kia Connect app account with the car linked to it, Kia does not have the required vehicle information to offer upgrades to you.

• Regardless of the type of vehicle purchase, such as corporate, lease, rental car, etc., the procedure for purchase is the same.

• However, OTA (Over-the-Air) update may be required for installation after purchasing upgrades, and for this purpose, no device should be attached to the OBD terminal in the vehicle.

• In addition, if you return the vehicle, you must return it after completing all pending transactions (installation/deinstallation of upgrades, etc.).

• You can register up to 5 credit/debit cards in Kia Pay. To register your card, access the Kia Connect checkout page and add or modify your payment methods.

• You should use your own credit card to purchase upgrades.

• The upgrades with no trial period offered must be paid immediately after placing the order, therefore it is not possible to change the payment method. If your purchase contains an upgrade with a free trial, you cannot change the payment method until the payment for the upgade is triggered after the expiration of the 14-day free trial.

• If you wish to change the payment method for the purchase of the selected upgrade after the free trial, you must cancel the free trial within 14 days and re-purchase the upgrade using a different payment method. Please note that in this case there will be no free-trial available.

• You can pay for the selected upgrade or service using our Kia Pay system. You can register your credit card during the first purchase, and it will be saved in the Kia Pay system for future purchases as well.

• If your credit card in Kia Pay has expired, you will not be able to make purchases via Kia Pay with that credit card. Please add a new credit card in your next checkout process.

• If you have several vehicles in your Kia Connect app, please make sure you select the correct one before entering the Kia Connect Store.

• The store displays the upgrades and services based on the eligibility of the vehicle selected in the Kia Connect app.

• In the Kia Connect Store, navigate to the [Manage upgrades] section, and then to the [Payment history] tab to see the payment transactions.

Cancellation

• Kia Connect offers a free trial of 14 days for several upgrades, which is specified on the respective upgrade detailed pages in the Kia Connect Store. This means that you can benefit from the free trial at your first purchase of each of these specific upgrades.

• If you are not satisfied with the upgrade, you can cancel the trial within the 14 days.

• When there is no free trial available for the selected upgrade or service, you will not be able to cancel the upgrade after the purchase is done, according to the consent to the early expiry of the Right of Withdrawal, communicated by you in the purchase process.

• If you cancel the trial while the vehicle is On, you will continue to use the upgrade until you restart the vehicle.

• However, the upgrade will be uninstalled when restarting, and will not be available after the deinstallation is completed.

• Yes, you can request the deinstallation of the purchased upgrades by contacting our Kia Connect support.

• No additional fees will occur in case you request the deactivation of upgrades.

Installation

• There is no time limit for downloading certificates files of upgrades.

• Installation process can start immediately after the purchase is complete. An installation pop-up window will be displayed when the vehicle is turned on.

• Even if the vehicle is not started for a certain period of time, there is no installation deadline.

• First, please check if the upgrade you purchased is properly displayed in the [Payment history] tab, in the [Manage upgrades] section of the Kia Connect Store. If the upgrade is not on the purchase list: the purchase may not have been completed, because the payment has not been completed yet.

• Please recheck the list later and proceed with the installation process after the status change.

• If the upgrade is on the purchase list: check the status of the upgrade in the [Manage upgrades] tab of the [Management] section of the Kia Connect Store. If the status indicates an issue with the installation process, contact the Kia Connect support for further assistance.

• After purchasing the upgrade in the Kia Connect Store, the installation can be started in your vehicle.

• Turn On the vehicle and follow the instructions, that will appear on your screen. The installation process will start, when the vehicle is turned Off, the gear is in P, and the doors are closed.

• Network reception in your vehicle may be poor in places such as underground parking or traffic jams.

• In this case, try the installation again in an open area. If the problem is not solved, please contact the Kia Connect support.

• There are OTA firmware requirements for each upgrade, so firmware updates are required if the current version does not fit the minimum requirements.

• If the firmware update pop-up appears, please install the update. Restart the vehicle and wait for the upgrade installation pop-up to appear, then proceed with the installation of the upgrade.

• If the diagnostic equipment scanning the vehicle condition is connected to the OBD terminal, it is normal for the pop-up to appear.

• Release the equipment connected to the terminal and try again.

• If the problem is not solved, try the following actions: - Restart induction

• Try restarting the vehicle two or three times.

• If this does not solve the problem, check the status of the upgrade in the [Manage upgrades] tab of the [Management] section of the Kia Connect Store. If the status indicates an issue with the installation process, contact the Kia Connect support.

Other

• Some of the upgrades offered in the Kia Connect Store have a free trial of 14 days. This is mentioned on the upgrade detailed page.

• Every Kia Connect app user can benefit from the trial once per every upgrade, where this option is offered.

• If you do not wish to use the Kia Connect Store and the related services any more, make sure to request deinstallation of any upgrades that are installed for your vehicle through Kia Connect support.

• In case you want Kia to delete all the data related to your purchase activity, please request the complete data deletion though the Kia Connect support as well. Please note that Kia Connect will store your data for 3 years after inactivity.

• To cancel the Kia Connect services, previously activated upgrades for a limited usage period must be uninstalled first, as they require connectivity for proper functioning.

• You can request the deinstallation of upgrades through the Kia Connect support. Otherwise, the upgrades with a limited usage period will be uninstalled automatically when deactivating Kia Connect services from your vehicle.

• The lifetime upgrades that you have purchased will still be available on the vehicle regardless of the termination of the Kia Connect service.

• If you do not wish to continue using Kia Pay, please remove all the payment methods registered in the Kia Pay system.

• In case you want Kia to delete all the data related to your purchase activity, please request the complete data deletion though the Kia Connect support.

• The lifetime upgrades that you have purchased will still be available on the vehicle regardless of the termination of the Kia Connect service. When the Kia Connect services are reactivated on the vehicle, for which the upgrades with a limited usage period were purchased, these upgrades can be reactivated if the upgrades usage period has not expired.

• To request the reactivation of the upgrades with a limited usage period, please contact the Kia Connect support.
