General Kia Connect Questions

·         Kia Connect is the telematics system found in many of Kia’s latest models. It refers to the connectivity services in the car, such as live traffic, weather forecasts, point-of-interest (POI) search, and even availability and pricing for car parking and EV recharging. Available services may vary depending on model and vehicle specification.

·         We are adding new functionalities to Kia Connect over time, to make the service as useful and helpful as possible to customers

·         It works in a similar way to a conventional smartphone. Kia Connect cars are fitted with a modem and a SIM card and rely on data from a mobile network

·         Kia partners with Vodafone to provide SIM cards and data, so Kia Connect coverage is linked to the Vodafone network.

·         Every vehicle equipped with Kia Connect has its own data allowance from Vodafone. However, Kia’s partnership with Vodafone allows excess data use to be covered by remaining unused data from other Kia Connect users. This data 'pool' is large enough to fully cover regular use of the services

• Kia Connect is offered to all Kia customers for free for seven years, in line with Kia's seven-year warranty

• Kia is yet to specify charges to access the system after the initial seven year period is over – but it will remain free to use for that entire time

• Vodafone is Kia's partner and SIM provider, so Kia Connect coverage is linked to their network. This means that services can be used across Europe, as long as Vodafone or one of its partners operates in each market

• Kia Connect services will be available in the UK.

·         Yes, the system features an 'Offline' mode, similar to a smartphone ‘Airplane’ mode. This enables users to temporarily block access to telematics and live services. Offline mode can be set directly in the car.

• The first user to connect to the car and its Kia Connect system becomes the 'administrator'. The administrator can use the ‘share access’ function to enable others to connect their own account to the car.

• Only one person can sign in to the car’s Kia Connect system at the same time when the vehicle is in use
• However, many Kia infotainment systems enable two phones to connect at the same time
• The master user can share his vehicle with several other Kia Connect App users.

·         There are different ways for customers to delete their personal data from the system or disconnect their account

·        To delete your personal data connected to your car, you can remove the car (VIN) from your Kia Connect App or reset the Kia Connect system in your car. To delete your personal data linked to the Kia Account, you then need to log in to the Kia Account portal and perform the deletion request.

·         Kia Connect App requires the log in through Kia Account. You can disconnect your Kia Account with Kia Connect anytime directly in the Kia Connect App.

·         To delete Kia Account you have to disconnect/delete all linked services first (all linked services has to be disconnected)

·         Navigate to your Kia Account Portal and please choose “Manage Account”. Click on the “Delete your account button”, confirm that you have to understand the given content, and click on the “Delete button”.
